7,000-95 HP Natural Gas Engine Test Cell
The CAT. Remanufacturing facility in Corinth MS. Desired to expand test capabilities. The goal was to construct a new test cell with infrastructure and equipment capable of testing engines from to 7,000 to 95 hp using both diesel and natural gas fuels. Dyno-One provided engineering studies and project support throughout the designing, construction and integration process of each system. Upon completion, “Test Cell #6” was able to successfully test a greater range of engines than any other test cell has previously been capable of in the North American Market.
New 750 HP AC Dyno
Achates Power required a new 750 hp AC dyno for engine development. Dyno-One designed, manufactured and supplied the dyno motor and mechanical equipment required while also integrating customer supplied equipment. The system included a spindle block with a flex disc shaft coupling to isolate the engine drive shaft from the dyno and the in-line torque transducer. Dyno-One delivered the system as an assembled package allowing smooth integration into the customers’ existing facility.
Low Inertia Offset Hybrid Dyno
The Cummins tech center in Charleston, NC required expanded capabilities for engine testing. A dyno was required with minimal inertia to allow for low speed and varying test cycles while still allowing peak power test capability. A 100 hp ac motor was used to counteract the large inertial forces of the eddy current dyno, while allowing continued use of the eddy current dyno’s large power absorption capacity. Additionally, when not needed for inertia offsetting, the 100 hp motor can regenerate its full power capacity, partially offsetting power consumption of the test stand.
